Heel Tough Blog: Who Could Be the Next 2024 Commit?

There has been a lot of negativity for the Tar Heels on the 2024 recruiting trail this week with the team missing on some important targets in the last couple of weeks. The team’s top three quarterbacks going elsewhere has left the team scrambling to find other avenues in search of their signal caller. Let’s give you a little positivity, though, with a look at who could be the next prospect to commit to the Tar Heels as they look to start adding some headliners to this class.

3TE Ryan Ward- Rutherford (Rutherford, NJ)

Ward is one of the Tar Heels recent offers and it is one that has seemingly had a major impact on his recruitment. He told Inside Carolina’s Don Callahan following the offer that he was blown away and On3 Sports now gives the team a major edge. With the team yet to land a tight end in this class and clearly wanting at least one, don’t be shocked if Freddie Kitchens pushes to try to get Ward, one of his offers, to commit.

3WR Keenan Jackson- Weddington (Weddington, NC)

Jackson is part of a loaded group of targets that the Tar Heels have at the receiver position and it feels like this is the player that they are in the best standing with right now. Jackson has already visited campus twice this offseason, although he has done the same with Duke. This feels like this is a player that the Tar Heels could get to pop if they wanted to, but the wonder is if they have other receivers that they are prioritizing over him that they want clearance on first.

3ATH Jaiden Patterson- Mill Creek (Houschton, GA)

Patterson was recently offered in his trip to Chapel Hill and they immediately vaulted into his top three. The Tar Heels are still without an official commitment in the defensive backfield and Patterson would provide the team with a versatile option on the back end. Patterson was very receptive to the Tar Heels offer and with Banfield’s commitment to Carolina, it may push him to join his teammate in this 2024 class.
