Heel Tough Blog: UNC to Host a 2025 Top 10 Prospect This Weekend

247Sports

After landing their first commitment of the 2025 recruiting class back in September, the Tar Heels are looking to build off that momentum, and that might happen over the weekend when a top-10 prospect will be in Chapel Hill. Caleb Wilson, the No. 8 player in the 2025 class will be on campus this weekend, after canceling his visit to Alabama, to visit UNC instead. Wilson is a 6-9, 205 pound, power forward, and is the No. 4 power forward, and the No. 1 player from Georgia, all according to 247Sports.

His visit to UNC comes after the Tar Heels landed Derek Dixon, a four-star combo guard, as Hubert Davis is busy trying to land the next cornerstones of his program.

Here is how Adam Finklestein, Director of Scouting for 247Sports, breaks down Wilson’s game: “Caleb Wilson has all the early characteristics of an ultra-versatile modern-day forward. He has good positional size, solid length, mobility, good natural instincts, athleticism, and a rangy frame that he is still just starting to fill out. Offensively, he has soft hands, including a very good left hand, an early passing instinct, and plenty of raw tools to develop in the coming years, but is still working to reliably extend his shooting range and consistently create his own shot. Defensively though, he shows significant early potential. He is already extremely switchable, has very high rates of both blocks and steals and is also a consistently high-volume rebounder.”

Wilson is coming off a special junior season, and travel ball season, as he averaged 20.8 points, 14.6 rebounds, 4.7 assists, and 4.4 blocks as a junior at Holy Innocents High School, Wilson followed that up with 11.9 points and 5.3 rebounds on the EYBL circuit, before averaging 17.3 points, and 7.0 rebounds, on his way to a Peach Jam title.
