The Tar Heels have been hitting the cornerback spot hard in the 2026 recruiting cycle so far and the team landed on the top schools list and set an official visit with another target at the position.

As first reported by On3 Sports’ Hayes Fawcett, the Tar Heels are amongst the six remaining for reclassified 2025 4✮ CB J’Vari Flowers. Carolina is joined by Auburn, Florida, Georgia, Miami and Syracuse.

Just a few minutes later, On3 Sports’ Chad Simmons followed up by revealing the official visit schedule for Flowers which will play out over the month of March. The Tar Heels will get the first crack at him on March 3rd before Auburn (March 6th) and Florida (March 10th) get their shots. Georgia (March 17th), Syracuse (March 21st) and Miami (March 24th) will all get their pitches in for him before he makes a decision on March 31st.

Flowers, the No. 82 overall prospect and No. 12 cornerback in the 2025 class, reclassified from the 2026 class just a week or so before National Signing Day earlier this month. The plan was for him to do exactly what he is doing, make his decision and enroll with his school of choice in the summer.

Flowers hails from Northwestern High School in Miami, FL. This season, as a junior, Flowers tallied 15 total tackles, 1.0 tackle for loss and three passes defensed in nine games for a Northwestern team that won the 3A state title in the state of Florida. The previous season as a sophomore at Central High School in Miami, FL, he finished with 37 total tackles, 1.0 tackle for loss, one interception and 18 passes defensed in eleven games. As a freshman, he became a starter, collecting 30 total tackles and seven pass defenses.

While the Tar Heels and the other members of his top six are all receiving official visits, it feels like Miami is in control of this recruitment. Barring him being blown away by what he sees at another school, the weekend of March 24th could be where the Hurricanes secure his silent commitment.
