After handing out multiple offers in the 2025 class yesterday, Hubert Davis has now turned his attention to the 2026 class, as he offered Cole Cloer, a North Carolina native. Cloer, is considered the No 18 overall player in the 247Sports, and is the No. 1 player from the state, and holds many offers already, including NC State, Tennessee, and Wake Forest. In his first two seasons at the high school level, Cloer has averaged over 20 points per game both seasons and nearly 8 rebounds per game. In addition to his standout play at the high school level, Cloer is also a member of Team CP3, one of the better grassroots AAU programs in the country. Last season, while playing on the 15U team, that won the highly regarded Peach Jam Invitational, Cloer averaged 12 points per game, helping him climb the national recruiting rankings.
Cloer becomes the first player to receive an offer from Hubert Davis, from the 2026 class, and will become a top priority. Yes, him being a local makes this recruitment all the more important, as you never want to lose out on an in-state product, the caliber of Cloer, but also, the future of the guard position at UNC isn’t very clear. RJ Davis returns for his super senior season, along with Seth Trimble, Elliot Cadaeu, and incoming five-star freshman, Ian Jackson. There’s a very good chance that none of those players will still be in the program by the time Cloer graduates high school, given the nature of the transfer portal, and the potential for early entrance into the NBA Draft. With all that in mind, Cloer could be a key recruit, to Hubert Davis establishing long-term success in Chapel Hill.
