Back in June, Hubert Davis and his staff got involved with Acaden Lewis, one of the top combo guards in the 2025 class. Well, Hubert and his staff have impressed Lewis in a big way, as he begins to narrow down his recruitment, the Tar Heels have emerged as a legit threat to his services. Earlier today, Lewis narrowed down his recruitment to 8 teams, and UNC made the list. The others include Tennessee, UConn, Kentucky, Michigan, Syracuse, Duke, and Auburn.
Lewis unofficially visited Chapel Hill back in June and is scheduled to be back on campus in early October, typically when UNC hosts recruits during their annual event to tip off the start of the season officially.
Lewis is ranked as the No. 31 player in the 2025 class according to 247Sports, the No. 4 combo guard, and the No. 1 player from the Washington D.C. area. He is coming off a junior season at Sidwell Friends School where he averaged 14.5 points per game, 5.7 rebounds per game, 4.3 assists per game, and 1.5 steals per game while shooting 48% overall and 33% from 3-point range on the way to being named the Gatorade Player of Year in the District of Columbia.
The Tar Heels don’t currently have a commitment in the 2025 class, but that could change in the coming weeks, as the summer AAU circuit is starting to heat up, with the prestigious Peach Jam Invitational right around the corner. With the program set to lose RJ Davis after the season, and the chances that Elliot Cadeau and Ian Jackson turn pro, Davis and his staff need to start finding talented replacements on the recruiting trail. This means it’s not a surprise to see the staff be so invested in Lewis, and making themselves legitimate to land him, whenever he’s ready to make a decision.
