For the second straight season, UNC has earned a #8 seed in the NCAA Tournament, as they will take on the #9 seed Marquette Golden Eagles on Thursday in Fort Worth, Texas. Ironically enough, for the second straight season as well, the #1 seed in UNC’s bracket is Baylor, who cut down the nets last year in Indianapolis.
The Tar Heels lost at home to Marquette last season, after scheduling the game after having multiple conference games canceled during the pandemic-ridden season. These two teams last met in the NCAA Tournament back in 2011 Sweet 16, a decisive win for the Tar Heels, in Newark, New Jersey.
