As we prepare to turn the calendar to the month of November, the postseason showcase games for high school football are beginning to send out invitations. Among those that have already received invites are two Tar Heel commits in the 2024 who will get the chance to play in two of those prestigious events.
On Wednesday morning, 2024 4✮ CB Zion Ferguson revealed that he will be heading to Orlando in January to play in the Under Armour All-American game. Ferguson, the No. 29 cornerback in the 2024 class according to 247Sports Composite player rankings, committed to the Tar Heels back on June 25th following his official visit to Chapel Hill. His commitment completed the team’s flip of his commitment from LSU, whom he had committed to since September of 2022.
Ferguson just helped wrap a region title for Gainesville High School in Gainesville, GA this past Friday night. So far in nine games this season, he has registered four interceptions, three of which he has returned for a touchdown, all while being targeted less than ten times by opposing quarterbacks. He will be looking to help lead the Red Elephants to an undefeated regular season and position themselves for a high seed in the GHSA AAAAAA state playoffs.
Last night, 2024 3✮ WR Javarius Green announced that he has received an invitation to this year’s U.S. Army All-American Game. Green, the No. 72 wide receiver in the 2024 class according to 247Sports Composite player rankings, committed to the Tar Heels back on August 18th after pushing his initial announcement back.
Green just concluded the regular season with Crest High School in Shelby, NC by winning the Big South 3A conference title last week with a victory over Kings Mountain. He finished the regular season with 42 catches for 880 yards and 13 touchdowns on offense and averaged 44.1 yards and found the endzone three times on eleven kick returns.
