Prior to Mack Brown’s presser on Monday, a Tar Heel spokesperson revealed that two players are out for the season, while two others are being monitored this week after missing Saturday’s game.
Senior offensive guard Jonathan Adorno and true freshman defensive tackle Leroy Jackson will miss the remainder of the season with undisclosed injuries.
Adorno was a major contributor on special teams in the first six games of the year, playing 51 snaps between field goal block and punt block, but had sat out the last two games. He graded out with aHe also played 25 snaps in four games on the offensive line, including a season-high 13 snaps in the game against Charlotte.
Jackson, on the other hand, has played in just one game so far this season. That action came against NC Central, where he played three snaps and finished with one total tackle. He is a prime candidate for a redshirt, something he was probably heading towards anyways.
Junior cornerback Marcus Allen and graduate safety Jakeen Harris both missed Saturday’s game in Charlottesville and are being monitored this week with lower body injuries. If they are unable to go, Ty Adams will likely start at the corner spot opposite of Alijah Huzzie, while Will Hardy will be counted on to take the majority of the snaps at the safety spot alongside Stick Lane.
