Heel Tough Blog: Top 25 Target Names Finalists, Set Commitment Date

Vanquish the Foe

While the Tar Heels continue to surge on the court, they are hoping to get some significant news next week, when Caleb Wilson, their top target in the 2025 recruiting class, will announce his college decision. Wilson, the No. 8 player in the 2025 cycle, the No. 4 power forward, and the No. 1 player from Georgia is deciding between UNC, Kentucky, and Ohio State. He will make his announcement next Thursday, January 23rd.

Carolina currently has two commitments in the 2025 class, in four-star guards, Derek Dixon, and Isaiah Denis, but landing Wilson would put Carolina’s class over the top. There’s no denying that the 2024-25 version of Carolina has suffered from not having a legitimate big man, and even though Wilson is 6-9, he’d be a legitimate force in the front court next year for Hubert Davis.

For what it’s worth, UNC did receive a crystal ball for Wilson just last week, but it was quickly taken down afterward. Many people believe that Kentucky is the favorite for Wilson’s talent, but after missing out on AJ Dybantsa, Carolina has turned their full attention to landing Wilson, and if Carolina has made the NIL commitments to Wilson, they’ll have a chance at landing Wilson.
