3✮ CB Onis Konanbanny became the first 2025 target to set his official visit for this summer. On Friday, three more targets in the class revealed when they will be taking their official trips to Chapel Hill. Here's a look at when those three will be on campus and where the Tar Heels stand in the races for each of them.
WR Malik Clark- Rock Hill (Rock Hill, SC)
Official Visit: June 7th-9th
The Tar Heels offered Clark at the end of last month and they have already earned an official visit. While this is a great step and shows that the team at least has a fighting chance in this race, they have a lot of work to do to overtake South Carolina. The Gamecocks have been the favorite since last spring and it seems like they hold him in pretty high regard, as well, and Clemson has been sniffing around, too. The Gamecocks will get the first official visit from him the week before, so even getting him on campus for this visit would be a big step in this recruitment if they are going to make a push to land him.
3✮ EDGE Taeshawn Alston- Vance County (Henderson, NC)
Official Visit: June 14th-16th
It should come as no shock that Alston is one of the first to schedule an official visit to Carolina. He has been a frequent visitor to campus over the last year and the Tar Heels have positioned themselves well to land his commitment. South Carolina is the biggest competition at this point with how often he has visited Columbia and this could be a pretty fierce battle to the end for his commitment. As long as the Tar Heels keep prioritizing him amongst their defensive line targets, they should feel good about their chances to be the pick in the end.
S Javion Butts- Jones County (Gray, GA)
Official Visit: June 21st-23rd
Butts is one of a handful of safeties that the Tar Heels are in good shape with and the first to schedule an official visit. The Tar Heels have already hosted him a couple times, including back on February 3rd and have established themselves as one of the top contenders for him. Georgia Tech has emerged as another one of the favorites for him and Tennessee has gotten involved as well in recent weeks. It’s still early, but landing an official visit from him shows the Tar Heels will have more than a fighting chance in this race.
