Christmas Day is a big one for the Tar Heels on the 2022 recruiting trail as one of their major targets in the class is set to announce their commitments.
One of the players slated to reveal their decision is 4✮ CB Tayon Holloway who announced his Christmas Day decision date back on November 20th. On that date, Holloway also revealed the final six schools that he decision will consist of which are Carolina, Florida State, Maryland, Penn State, Pittsburgh and Virginia Tech.
Of his six finalists, the Tar Heels are ones that seem to have the best chance to land him at this point. Holloway has a strong relationship with current Tar Heel cornerback Tony Grimes’s father, who has a very strong standing in the state of Virginia and he also seems to have developed a nice connection with current commit Tychaun Chapman. Having Dré Bly as his lead recruiter probably doesn’t hurt the team’s chances either, as he has already made some nice roads in the Tidewater area since he returned to Chapel Hill.
The crystal balls favor the Tar Heels heavily as the decision approaches. All four of the crystal balls posted on 247Sports are in favor of the Tar Heels and all them have been cast within the last 40 days. The Rivals predictions are all in favor of Carolina, as well, headlined by Adam Friedman and Mike Farrell’s selections of the team in the past month and a half.
Landing Holloway would be a big addition for multiple reasons. First and foremost, the Tar Heels would be getting a lockdown man coverage corner to help headline this 2022 class and this would also further the ties that the Tar Heels have in the 757. Heading into the decision, the Tar Heels have to love where they are at and feel confident that they will be able to close this one out.
Prediction: North Carolina
