The Tar Heels are in search of help in their backfield and the team has added another transfer to their visit schedule.
According to Rivals, Army transfer running back Kanye Udoh, who entered the transfer portal yesterday following his team’s loss to Navy, will visit Chapel Hill on Saturday. This will conclude a week of visits that will include stops at Missouri, SMU and Arizona State before he arrives at UNC.
Udoh, who will have two of eligibility remaining wherever he ends up, is coming off two very productive seasons at Army. As a freshman last year, he was the Black Knights second rusher, carrying the ball 99 times for 524 yards and a touchdown. This year, he was also the second leading rusher but was far more productive, carrying the ball 179 times for 1,117 yards and ten touchdowns.
The Tar Heels' interest in Udoh is part of the staff’s pursuit of help in the backfield where the team is losing a lot from this year’s roster. With Omarion Hampton likely headed to the NFL, the only players that are expected to return in the running back room as of right now are true freshman Davion Gause and sophomore Charleston French. The staff does have Demon June Jr. set to join the team from the high school ranks next season, but they need an experienced option to pair with Gause and provide some depth in the room, something that Udoh would provide.
