The activity continues for Carolina in the transfer portal, after getting involved with Bucknell transfer Noah Williamson last night, and hosting San Diego State transfer Nick Boyd today, they are still looking for talent to add, getting involved with Silas Demary Jr, the transfer guard from Georgia, who has two years of eligibility left. Carolina offered the North Carolina native, who enjoyed a successful sophomore season, averaging over 13 points per game, while shooting 37% from behind the arc. He started every game this season for Georgia, who made the NCAA Tournament for the first time under Mike White, before being ousted in the first round by Gonzaga.

Demary Jr has started 69 games in two years at the SEC level, and for his career, he’s averaged 11.5 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 2.8 assists, while shooting 40% from the field, and 35% from behind the arc. He grew up in North Carolina, playing at Millbrook High School, and Liberty Heights, and Combine Academy, the latter two places are known for producing high-level basketball talent, at the power conference level.

One aspect of every guard that Carolina has contracted in the transfer portal, whether they’re from the power conference level, or the mid-major level, is that every guard has the size you typically see in a power conference, and Demary Jr fits that mold, as he stands at 6-5, weighing 190 pounds. In his final radio show of the season, Hubert Davis said that they were going to add size to the roster in the off-season, and every transfer portal target would reflect that, as every guard has been 6-3 or taller.

The interest in Demary Jr comes after Donovan Dent, the top guard in the transfer portal committed to UCLA last night. RJ Luis, the Big East Player of the Year entered the portal last night but is also going to explore the NBA Draft, so it’s uncertain if Carolina will get involved with him or not.

One thing is for certain, though: With the losses of Elliot Cadeau (transfer) and RJ Davis (graduation), Carolina is looking to replace them with experienced, accomplished players at the college level, as opposed to asking too much of incoming freshmen Derek Dixon and Isaiah Denis.
