The Tar Heels are slowly but surely starting to set official visits and over the weekend another one was confirmed with one of their top tight end targets.
According to 247Sports recruiting reporter Allen Trieu, the Tar Heels will be hosting 2026 3✮ TE Landen Miree for an official visit June 3rd-5th as part of a loaded official schedule this summer. Miree will also be making trips to Washington (May 29th-June 1st), Cincinnati (June 6th-8th), Florida State (June 13th-15th) and SMU (June 20th-22nd).
Miree, the No. 559 overall prospect and No. 28 tight end in the 2026 class according to 247Sports Composite Player Rankings, hails from Princeton High School in Cincinnati, OH. This past season, as a junior, he caught 56 passes for 714 yards and ten touchdowns, all of which were career highs. The year prior, as a sophomore, he hauled in 24 passes for 371 yards of four touchdowns.
As of right now, the Tar Heels have to feel pretty good about where they stand in this race. According to On3 Sports Recruiting Prediction Machine, SMU holds the slight advantage right now with a 24.0% chance to land his service, but the Tar Heels are in third place with a 13.6% chance. Spring visits will be important in this race, so hopefully the Tar Heel staff can get him on campus.
