The Tar Heels are starting to fill out their official visit schedule for this summer and the team added a big name to that calendar officially on Wednesday afternoon.

As first reported by Sam Spiegelman of Rivals, the Tar Heels will be hosting 2026 3✮ S Julian “JuJu” Burns for an official visit the weekend of May 30th, which will kick off a month full of official visits for the 2026 recruiting class. The Tar Heels are joined by Arkansas (June 6th), Mississippi State (June 13th) and Tennessee (June 20th) as the schools who will receive an official visit from him to this point.

Burns, the No. 615 overall prospect and No. 46 safety in the class according to 247Sports Composite Player Rankings, hails from Neville High School in Monroe, LA. This past season, as a junior, he finished with 81 total tackles, 1.0 tackles for loss, four quarterback hurries and two interceptions in eleven games on his way to earning District 2-5A honors.

When it comes to where his recruitment is currently at, this seems like a wide open race for his commitment. The Tar Heels are the late team to the party, but the Belichick effect could be very impactful here like it was with his teammate Jaylen Nichols. Getting the first visit here will certainly be a big help.
