Heel Tough Blog: Tar Heels Pick Up Commitment from 3✮ In-State WR

Today is the start of what will be a string of decisions from the majority of the Tar Heels remaining targets in the 2024 class. 4✮ TE Korey Duff Jr. will announce his commitment later this evening, but the day got started just a few minutes ago with 3✮ WR Keenan Jackson revealing his decision.

Jackson, the No. 104 wide receiver in the class according to 247Sports Composite player rankings, announced his commitment to the Tar Heels earlier this afternoon over NC State, Duke and others. This comes less than a week after he took his official visit to Chapel Hill to close out his official visit schedule. That was his ninth trip to campus in the last two years.

Jackson, the No. 29 player in the state of North Carolina, is preparing for his final season at the prep level at the school he transferred this offseason, Weddington High School in Weddington, NC. Last year at rival Cuthbertson High School, he caught 50 passes for 582 yards and seven touchdowns and he earned first team all-conference and all-county honors. He also earned both those honors as a sophomore with the Cavaliers after catching 52 passes for 772 yards and nine touchdowns.

Jackson is a very intriguing first addition to the wide receiver room in this class. At 6’3, 185 lbs, he has the perfect frame to play on the outside. He showcases the ability to go up and get the football and wins a lot of those 50/50 balls. He is a really good route runner and does a great job of creating separation with that and his speed. His effects can be felt at all three levels of the passing and he surprises you with his ability to pick up yards after the catch, especially on screen plays. There is some refining that he has to do to his game, but this is a really good addition to this wide receiving corps.

With his commitment, the Tar Heels are now up to 21 commitments in their 2024 class. The class remains in 16th in the 247Sports Composite team rankings and second in the ACC.
