Heel Tough Blog: Tar Heels One of Three Remaining for 3✮ CB

The Tar Heels are in the midst of a run of defensive backfield on 2024 recruiting trail. The team landed commitments from 4✮ S TyShun White and 3✮ S Jalon Thompson earlier this week and is preparing for commitments from another top target at the safety position. Meanwhile, at corner, the team has flipped an LSU commit and dipped into the state of Florida to sure up the room in the past month.

On Thursday, the Tar Heels landed in a top schools list for another Florida corner that is closing in on a decision, 3✮ CB Teddy Foster. The Tar Heels are joined by in-state schools Florida and Miami as those that will be battling it out the remainder of his recruitment. Foster is a name that has flown under the radar in this recruiting cycle in the defensive backfield, but he is a guy that the Tar Heels hosted for an official visit during the month of June. He was on campus the weekend of June 9th and also took and official visit to Florida. His trip to Miami during the month was an unofficial one.

Right now, Florida looks to be in the driver’s seat for him, but he has yet to set his decision date. The Tar Heels have to figure out where they are going to play a couple of guys who are listed as safeties but may fit best as corners. If the team is going to use Thompson and Jaiden Patterson as corners, the team will likely be done with 4✮ Zion Ferguson and 3✮ Carlos Mitchell Jr. already committed to the class. If not, they may be willing to take another commitment in the class, especially if they feel they need another outside corner in this cycle. Ultimately it may not matter, though, with the lead that the Gators appear to have.
