Saturday, the 2025 Navy All-American Bowl took place in San Antonio as some of the nation’s top prospects looked to show out one last time before they head to the college level. As part of the festivities, a small group of guys announced their commitments, and one of those was the Tar Heels' final remaining target in the 2025 recruiting cycle.
2025 4✮ IOL Justin Hasenhuetl announced during the first quarter of the game that he was committing to California over Carolina and Arkansas.
The Tar Heels hosted Hasenhuetl back in mid-December following his decommitment from Georgia Tech and immediately became one of Bill Belichick’s most important targets. Even with that being the case, it wasn’t enough for the Tar Heels to overtake California, the team he visited in late November and prompted his decommitment.
Missing on him stings a little because it felt like the team had a legitimate shot at a talented interior offensive lineman that could have made an immediate impact. The good news is that the team has already landed two players on the interior of the offensive line and have added depth there in the transfer portal, as well. Still, this would have been a nice statement to the rest of college football is Belichick could have gotten it done.
With Hasenhuetl now off the board, the Tar Heels are now going to turn their focus to a guy they offered earlier this week, unranked athlete Madrid Tucker.
Tucker, who just wrapped up his senior season at Fort Myers High School in Fort Myers, FL, is the true definition of an athlete. This past season, Tucker carried the ball 42 times for 383 yards and five touchdowns, caught the ball 36 times for 686 yards and eight touchdowns and collected 43 total tackles, two interceptions, six passes defensed, two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries. It is unclear as to where Bill Belichick and his new staff are wanting to play the 5’9.5, 155 lbs. athlete, but it’s clear that the staff has seen something that they like. Tucker also holds offers from Appalachian State, Arkansas State, Florida International, Florida Atlantic, Furman, Massachutsetts, Navy, Pittsburgh, Richmond, South Florida, Toledo, UCF, West Virginia and Western Michigan.
