Heel Tough Blog: Tar Heels Miss on 2025 4✮ In-State Prospect

High School OT

The 2025 class is beginning to see some high profile names make their decision and on Monday, one of the Tar Heels top in-state targets.

Earlier this afternoon, 2025 4✮ DL Isaiah Campbell announced his commitment to Clemson over Carolina, NC State, Tennessee and others. Campbell is the No. 4 prospect in the state in the 2025 class and the No. 72 overall prospect.

Campbell’s commitment to the Tigers was something that has been coming for a while now, but it is the start to what could be a trend for the top players in the state in what might be the most loaded in-state crop of the modern recruiting era. 5✮ OT David Sanders Jr., the No. 1 player in the state and No. 2 player overall, has had strong ties to Dabo Swinney and company for a while now and those were strengthened by his visit there over the weekend. Meanwhile, 4✮ S Jordan Young, the No. 2 player in the state, just had a crystal ball prediction cast for him to land with Tigers over the weekend. Even the No. 3 player, 4✮ EDGE Bryce Davis, has the Tigers in a pretty good spot so far in his recruitment. The Tar Heels have to feel like they at least have a shot with Davis, but they may once again have to attempt to do their work in the second tier of prospects in the state, a harsh reality about where the program is right now.
