The Tar Heel secondary is set to suffer a lot of departures this offseason and the team added one more to this growing list on Thursday.
According to Inside Carolina, redshirt freshman cornerback Ty Adams has entered his name imto the transfer portal. He will have three years of eligibility remaining wherever he lands.
Adams spent two seasons in Chapel Hill and played in ten games all of which came this season. His biggest impact was on special teams where he played 73 snaps, but he did play important snaps against James Madison, Virginia and Connecticut. He finished the season with four total tackles and allowed four of his five targets to be caught for 115 yards and two touchdowns and had a perfect 158.3 quarterback rating when thrown at.
On the surface, this might not appear to be a big loss for the Tar Heels, but when you consider the fact that the team has now lost three of the four corners who made up the two-deep at the position for most of the season. This means that they have hit the portal extremely hard at the position and develop some of the young guys in the room. They may also have to look at moving Kaleb Cost out there from the slot.
