Heel Tough Blog: Tar Heels Lose OT to Portal

The transfer portal craziness is underway in the FBS and the Tar Heels now have their first portal entry.

Earlier this morning, junior offensive tackle Eli Sutton confirmed via social media that he officially entered the transfer portal. He will have one year of eligibility remaining.

Sutton, who was a 4✮ prospect coming out of high school, played in just four games in his four seasons in Chapel Hill, taking the majority of his snaps on special teams. This season was the most action he saw, taking 16 snaps on the Tar Heels placekicking unit in the middle part of the season. His only action on the offensive line came in last year’s game against Campbell where he took eight snaps at left tackle.

This move seemed very likely once Sutton was passed on the depth chart by a couple of true freshmen during the season. The Tar Heels’ offensive tackle spots are still in good shape with everyone that took a snap at the spot this season able to return next season.
