Heel Tough Blog: Tar Heels Lose Fourth and Final Kicker From Spring Roster to Portal

It’s official: the Tar Heels have zero kickers from the spring that are on their active roster.

According to Pete Nakos of On3 Sports, kicker Adam Samaha, who transferred to UNC back in December from Michigan, is re-entering the transfer portal. He will have three years of eligibility remaining wherever he chooses to continue his career.

In his two seasons in Ann Arbor, Samaha only kicked one time, nailing an extra point in the team’s 2023 blowout victory against Indiana. This season he did not see any action, leading to his decision to transfer. Samaha was the No. 7 kicker in the 2023 recruiting class according to 247Sports’ Composite Player Rankings.

With his departure, the Tar Heels have now lost every single kicker that was with them in the spring. That means that as of right now, the team will be relying on true freshman summer enrollee Guytano Bartolomeo is the only kicker on the roster right now and currently has a ton of pressure on him to be ready to start right away. This also puts pressure on the staff to go out and find some new blood to add to this room through the portal.
