For a second straight day, the Tar Heels have added a defensive piece to their 2025 class on Saturday.
2025 DL Devin Ancrum announced via social media on Saturday that he was committing to the Tar Heels over Duke and Boston College. Ancrum last visited Chapel Hill on April 6th and according to Inside Carolina, that was the visit that sealed the deal for him and led to his move today.
Ancrum is preparing for his senior season at Mill Creek High School in Hoschton, GA after back to back years of solid production in the middle of their defense. He notched 49 total tackles, 8.0 tackles for loss, and 2.0 sacks as a junior as he helped lead the Hawks to a 12-1 season where they were eliminated in the quarterfinals of the GHSA 7A state playoffs. The prior year, as a sophomore, he finished with 52 total tackles, 7.0 tackles for loss and 3.0 sacks while helping lead the Hawks to the 7A state title.
With his commitment, the Tar Heels already have nine commits in this class, including four from the state of Georgia. The class is also up to No. 17 overall and No. 4 in the ACC in the 247Sports Composite team rankings.
