Heel Tough Blog: Tar Heels JUCO RB Target Set to Announce Decision Tomorrow

The Tar Heels may have five scholarship running backs for next year but the team is still looking to add to that room. One of the team’s top remaining targets, JUCO running back Waymond Jordan, made his decision date known on Saturday.

According to Pete Nakos of On3 Sports, Jordan will be signing with his school of choice tomorrow. He is currently deciding between Carolina, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, UCF and USC.

Jordan, who still remains committed to UCF at this time, was on campus in Chapel Hill back on the weekend of December 21st as one of his first stops on his visit schedule. He just concluded that schedule this week when he took the trip to Los Angeles for what appeared to be the most impactful visits of the trips he took.

This season as a sophomore at Hutchinson Community College, Jordan has run for 1,533 yards and 20 touchdowns in eleven, while helping to carry the Blue Dragons to the NJCAA Championship Game which is set to take place this Wednesday in Canyon, TX against Iowa Western. This followed a quiet first year for him at the school where he ran for 202 yards and two touchdowns after landing there as an unranked prospect out of high school in Pensacola, FL.

This is one that the Tar Heels really want considering they are down to just two targets at the position with the more talented options that the team chased after having gone elsewhere. While Faison would be the preferred option because of his experience, the team really just needs another option here that can help Davion Gause and Caleb Hood out, especially with Hood’s injury history.
