The Tar Heels have just one linebacker committed to their 2025 recruiting class and they are now in a fierce battle to hold on to him.
2025 3✮ LB Anthony Kruah announced his commitment to the class back on April 21st following an unofficial visit to Chapel Hill during the team’s all-access spring practice. Since his commitment, the Georgia Bulldogs have become heavily invested in his recruitment and become a threat to flip him after he took an official visit to Athens the weekend of June 21st.
This is about as bad of a situation for the Tar Heels to be in. The Bulldogs have reached the level where they are almost impossible to turn down if they extend a committable offer and unlike in years past, the shine of Mack Brown as a recruiter doesn’t have nearly the pull it used to for high school recruits. The expected flip of 4✮ LB Jaden Perlotte to Tennessee will only heighten the push from Kirby Smart and company to do the same in the other direction with Kruah.
Losing his commitment would be significant for the Tar Heels, leaving them without a linebacker in this class. The staff has brought in three linebackers in each of the last two classes meaning the room will still be in decent shape. However, with the threat of transfers, adding at least one from the high school ranks is something that staff should be intent on. With most of the other offers at the position in this class committed elsewhere or closing in on decisions with the Tar Heels nowhere to be found, they may have to extend a new offer to find that commitment in this class.
