The Tar Heels are set for another big weekend of visits, including one with one of their few remaining targets in the 2025 class.
As first reported by Don Callahan of Inside Carolina, the Tar Heels will be hosting 2025 3✮ LB Tyler Houser in Chapel Hill over the weekend. The Tar Heels are attempting to complete the flip of his services from Wake Forest, the school that he signed with back during the early signing period. He was officially released from his Letter of Intent back on January 13th following the departure of Dave Clawson as the Demon Deacons head coach.
Houser, the No. 853 overall player and No. 88 linebacker in the class according 247Sports Composite Player Rankings, just put a bow on his high school career at Pope John XXII in Sparta, NJ. This year, he collected 144 total tackles, 14.0 tackles for loss, 7.0 sacks, one interception and one fumble recovery while helping lead the Lions to the NJSIAA Non-Division B state title game where they would fall short. In the prior season, as a junior, he finished with 130 total tackles, 22.5 tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks, one interception, one pass defensed and one fumble recovery while helping lead Pope John XXII to the Non-Public A Playoffs where they would fall in the first round. He originally came onto the scene, though, as a sophomore when he had 76 total tackles, 6.0 tackles for loss and 3.0 sacks.
The Tar Heels have already picked up an expert forecast in their favor prior to the visit which points to them being a strong favorite. 247Sports national recruiting analyst Brian Dohn logged a crystal ball prediction with a confidence level of six on Friday morning prior to his arrival on campus. This seems to imply that a good visit could be enough to land his commitment by weekend’s end.
