The Tar Heels have been landing on a lot of top schools lists in the 2026 class recently, but it was a member of the 2027 class that kept them alive as he narrowed down his decision on Tuesday.

2027 WR Hakim Frampton announced via his social media last night that he has cut his list down to twelve schools following a round of spring visits. The Tar Heels are joined by Arizona State, Arkansas, Auburn, BYU, Memphis, Missouri, Ole Miss, Oregon, Texas A&M, Utah and Washington as those still fighting for him.

Frampton, who is currently unranked according to 247Sports Composite Team Rankings, is set to play for Joe T. Robinson High School in Little Rock, AR. This past season, as a sophomore at Narbonne High School in Harbor City, CA, he played in just six games, piling up 11 total tackles, two interceptions, seven passes defensed, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery. Prior to that, as a freshman at Buena Park High School in Buena Park, CA, he caught 20 passes for 247 yards and two touchdowns and finished with 22 total tackles, one interception, two passes defensed and one forced fumble.

When it comes to where the Tar Heels stand in this recruitment, it feels like they are in the second tier of a two tier recruitment. BYU, Texas A&M and Ole Miss are the ones with the early advantages here according to On3 Sports Recruiting Prediction Machine, but there is still plenty of time for the Tar Heels staff to make a push if they want to.
