After landing a commitment from one of his teammates last week, the Tar Heels have completed the flip of a 2025 offensive lineman.

On Tuesday evening, 2025 3✮ OT Eidan Buchanan announced via social media that he has flipped his commitment from West Virginia to Bill Belichick and the Tar Heels. The flip comes after Buchanan was on campus in the middle of last week for a visit with Will Friend and the staff.

Buchanan, the No. 1376 overall prospect and No. 99 offensive tackle in the 2025 class according to 247Sports Composite Team Rankings, signed with West Virginia back during the early signing period in December following a late push from Michigan. Late last month, he asked out of his Athletic Scholarship Agreement with the Mountaineers and was granted that release.

Buchanan, No. 40 player in the state of Maryland in 2025 class, hails from Our Lady of Good Counsel High School in Olney, MD. This is Tar Heels’ second commitment in the last three days from the school joining 2026 DL David Jackson III, who announced his decision on Sunday.

Buchanan is a massive offensive lineman at 6’8, 310 lbs. and he is what you expect at that \

size. He is an absolute mauler in the run game that simply overpower edge rushers with his strong upper- body strength. He has some solid pass protection reps and quality footwork and lateral movement, but you can see where squattier edge rushers could cause issues for him. He will have to work on his pad level when he plays, but there is promise here that could allow him to make his presence felt in his first few years on campus.

With his commitment, the Tar Heels 2025 class now has 29 signees, including three offensive linemen. Buchanan actually becomes the first offensive tackle to sign with the team in the cycle, helping to provide some depth for the team. With the commitment, the Tar Heels class remains No. 41 in the 2025 recruiting cycle and No. 9 in the ACC according to 247Sports Composite Team Rankings.
