After a wild day in the transfer portal that saw the Tar Heels land five commitments, the team has dipped into it once again, this time to add a transfer pass catcher.
According to Matt Zenitz of 247Sports, the Tar Heels have landed a commitment from Michigan State transfer wide receiver Aziah Johnson. Johnson, who was on campus earlier this week for an official visit, will have three years of eligibility remaining.
In his two seasons with the Spartans, Johnson played in 16 games, including all twelve this season. After not registering a single target last year, he caught 16 passes for 276 yards and two touchdowns and dropped just one pass on 25 targets this season.
This is a nice addition for a Tar Heel wide receiving corps that is losing a lot of bodies and experience this offseason. He very well could be the guy that takes the place of Nate McCollum in the slot if he can beat out another promising young receiver in Javarius Green, who is expected to remain on the roster.
