The Tar Heels just added Mike Priefer as their special teams coordinator and he already has his first addition to the room.
Per his Twitter account, the Tar Heels landed a commitment from Lake Erie College (DII) transfer kicker Jaffer Murphy. Murphy appears as if he will be a walk-on with the team.
This season with Lake Erie, Murphy was 17-17 on extra points, 13-21 on field goals with four of the makes coming from over 50 and one coming from 60 yards away. He kicked off 45 times and 28 of them went for a touchback.
Murphy joins Michigan transfer Adam Samaha as transfers at the position that will be hoping to win the starting placekicker job. They will both battle Liam Boyd who will be back from the lower-body injury that cut his season short this year.
