The Tar Heels hot streak on the 2025 recruiting trail continues to grow as the team closes in on National Signing Day.

As firstt reported by Don Callahan of Inside Carolina, the Tar Heels landed a commitment from 2025 3✮ ATH Kenedy Uzoma on Sunday night. That commitment came following his visit to campus over the weekend.

Uzoma, a former Minnesota commit, decommitted a couple of weeks ago after Minnesota’s plan for him was to “grey shirt” and head to prep school in preparation for 2026. The Gophers were also going to play him at defensive end unlike the Tar Heels who will use him at wide receiver.

Uzoma recently finished his lone season at St. John’s Catholic School in Buckeystown, MD with 817 receiving yards and eleven receiving touchdowns on 34 receptions and 24 total tackles, 10.0 tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks, four quarterback hurries, one pass defensed and one forced fumble while playing both wide receiver and edge rusher for the team. Prior to that, he spent his first three high school seasons at High Point High School in Beltsville, MD playing both sides of the ball there as well.

Uzoma is a unique receiver that has some tremendous upside. He did a good job of winning deep at the high school level with his long strides and good speed. His ability to climb the ladder at 6’5 and make 50/50 catches is special, as is his ability to pull down the one handed-catch. He made some nice plays after the catch and should have more opportunities to show that off at this level. His route tree is rather limited, so he’ll have to work on expanding this at the college level. He will also have to learn how to deal with physicality off the line of scrimmage, something he didn’t do much at the high school level. Still, there is a lot of potential here and he could have an impact in this room in a few years.

With his commitment, the Tar Heels have eleven commits that will sign on Wednesday. This commitment jumps the Tar Heels up to No. 53 overall and No. 12 ACC in the 247Sports Composite Team Rankings.
