The Tar Heels have been adding to their 2025 class at a rapid rate in the past couple of weeks, but the team got the news that one of the guys who signed with the program during the early signing period will not enroll with the school.
2025 3✮ EDGE Kamden Laudenslager announced via social media that he will not be joining the team and will instead be going in a different direction. “After 16 months of being committed to UNC and Coach Mack Brown, I’ve decided to go in a different direction with the recent changes to the program. I’m grateful for the opportunity I had to build relationships with the staff, players, and the Tar Heel community.”
Laudenslager, the No. 1109 overall player and No. 86 EDGE in the class according 247Sports Composite will begin looking for his next school immediately in hopes of joining a team in the summer like he was set to do with the Tar Heels. His decision originally came down to Carolina, Pittsburgh and Wisconsin, but he also held offers from Boston College, Duke, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Tennessee, Toledo, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest and West Virginia along with some FCS programs.
His separation from the program makes some sense with the fact that he signed before the new Belichick staff took and he has already been recruited over. Last week, the Tar Heels were able to complete a flip of 3✮ EDGE Chinedu Onyeagoro, the No. 548 overall player and No. 39 EDGE in the class, a guy who has a higher upside than the departing Laudenslager.
With his decision, the Tar Heels are back to having just 13 commitments in the 2025 class. The class also drops back to 76th in the overall class rankings and remains 17th in the ACC.
