The Tar Heels have taken their time on revealing their plans when it comes to whether or not they will play a spring game this offseason, but it appears that we have our answer as to what they will do as of Wednesday afternoon.

According to a report from On3 Sports reporter Pete Nakos, the team has joined the list of schools that will not be having a traditional spring game, joining the majority of the teams around the country who have chosen to do the same.

In the modern era of college sports, it makes a lot of sense as to why teams are choosing this option, especially the smaller schools. Spring games have basically become a free look for opposing teams at your roster where they pick and choose players that they want to try and pry away with NIL offers. It also shouldn’t shock you that Belichick, who wants this team to run as similar to an NFL team as possible, doesn’t see the value in a traditional spring game.

The good news is that Tar Heel fans will still get the opportunity see the team in action on April 12th in the final practice of the spring. The event, which is called “Practice Like a Pro” will take place in Kenan Stadium starting at 6:30 PM. Admisson is going to be free and the plan is to also have an autograph session that day with more details to be released at a later time.
