Just hours after one of the Tar Heels top edge rusher targets in the 2025 recruiting class announced his commitment date, the team’s other target at the position did the same.
2025 3✮ EDGE Herbert Scroggins III revealed last night via social media that he will be committing on Tuesday, the same day as fellow 3✮ EDGE Taeshawn Alston. His decision will come down to UNC, Georgia Tech, Auburn and Miami, the four schools that he placed in his top four last night.
The Tar Heels seemed to feel pretty good about their chances exiting his official visit to Chapel Hill back on the weekend of May 31st, but this recruitment doesn’t seem to be trending their way. Auburn has received multiple predictions to land him since he concluded his official visit there this past weekend. Miami is the one team that remains a threat at this point to the Tigers with Scroggins III set to take his official visit there this weekend prior to the decision.
With Scroggins III almost certainly heading elsewhere, it makes it important that the team lands Alston if they are wanting to add another edge rusher in this cycle.
