Heel Tough Blog: Robert Grigsby Commitment Preview

Friday might be the single biggest day for the Tar Heels 2023 class outside of early signing, as three of the team’s top targets remaining in the cycle are set to announce their decisions.

2023 3✮ IOL Robert Grigsby will be the second of the three to commit tomorrow at 1:30 PM EST. He will head into the decision with Chapel Hill fresh on his mind after they got the final crack in his recruitment this past weekend. Prior to that, he spent the previous two weekends at NC State and Vanderbilt, respectively, for official visits.

The Tar Heels had to feel confident heading into last Friday considering the fact that Vanderbilt just didn’t seem to create much separation after holding the slight lead in this recruitment for the majority of it. NC State made a late push, but it doesn’t seem like it was anything serious and there was nothing really concerning from a Tar Heel perspective that came out of that weekend. That left Mack Brown and his staff with a perfect opportunity, which it appears they took full advantage of.

This is another decision where the experts head in pretty confident with where he is heading. Both 247Sports crystal ball predictions, which were cast yesterday are at a confidence level of 6 in favor of the Tar Heels. Over on Rivals, they also hold the lone forecast that has been cast there, done earlier today as a matter of fact. The On3 Predicition Machine also strongly favors Tar Heels, with the site giving them a 92.8% chance to add him to their 2023 class.

This is one that coming into the month and especially last weekend, I felt pretty confident about because of prior visits and the lack of separation from the Commodores. It’s hard to say anything is a sure thing, but this would be an absolute stunner if it isn’t the Tar Heels tomorrow.
