We’ve known for some time that Carolina would be competing in the PK80 Invitational this season, and a few weeks ago the official dates for the Invitational were released. Yesterday, UNC learned who their first opponent will be in Portland, as they’ll take on Portland, from the West Coast Conference. That contest will take place on Thursday, November 24th at 1 PM Eastern Standard Time, or 10 AM Pacific Time.
The way the bracket is laid out, UNC will take on the winner/lose of Villanova-Iowa State, meaning that a UNC win and Villanova win, would set up the first contest between the two blue bloods since the 2016 national championship, for the right to play in the final on Sunday.
At the bottom of the bracket, UConn takes on the Oregon Ducks, as Michigan State faces off against Alabama. If UNC were to see Oregon in the final, it would be the first time the two would’ve played each other since the 2017 Final Four. As for Michigan State, UNC has a long history with the Spartans, including losing to Sparty in the PK75 Invitational, five seasons ago.
