Things are starting to pick back up on the 2025 recruiting trail as we close in on a month full of official visits on campuses across the country.
One of the prospects who set an official visit to Chapel Hill back in February was 4✮ DL London Merritt, a guy the team worked hard to reestablish a relationship with after the change in defensive line coaches. His commitment to Ohio State back in late March made it hard to believe that he would keep any of his other official visits, but that is not the case.
According to Inside Carolina’s Don Callahan, Merritt will still make his official visit to campus the weekend of June 7th ahead of his trip to Columbus. Those will be the only two official visits he will take as of right now, meaning the door is open for the Tar Heels.
Merritt is one of the highest-ranked prospects that the team will have on campus next month and the expectation is that the staff will be pushing hard to add him to a room defensive tackle room that needs talent. The fact that there is an opportunity here specifically for Carolina means there is something that Merritt is drawn to and the staff needs to find a way to capitalize on that and show him that he is a priority.
