The spring transfer window for football opened on Tuesday, as teams across college football will get one last chance to add to their rosters for the 2024 season. On Monday, the Tar Heels hosted their first target of the second window in a running back that didn't find a home in the first window.
Mississippi State running back transfer Simeon Price was on campus in Chapel Hill on Monday as he confirmed via social media. Price entered the portal back in mid-November and this was his first trip to a school since. He will have two years of eligibility remaining.
Price, the No. 36 athlete back in the 2021 recruiting class according to 247Sports Composite player rankings, redshirted in his first season in Starkville before he would turn in a very solid redshirt freshman season. He carried the ball 30 times for 150 yards and also caught 13 passes for 112 yards and a touchdown on offense and handled the team’s kick return duties, returning six kicks for 99 yards. This season, both of those roles were reduced, as he touched the ball just five times offensively and returned just one kick.
This move would definitely be one that fall in line with Mack Brown said he was looking for at the position when he spoke with the media on Wednesday. You would also hope that if he lands with UNC, he will be able to at least compete for the kick returner job, which feels pretty wide open right now.
