There aren’t many prospects that the Tar Heels' new staff can still land in the 2025 recruiting class, but they have secured a visit from one of the top players remaining as of Sunday.
According to 247Sports’ Chris Hummer and On3 Sports’ Matt Zeintz, the top JUCO running back in the 2025 class, Waymond Jordan, will visit Chapel Hill next weekend. Jordan, the No. 26 overall JUCO in the class according to 247Sports Composite Player Rankings, is currently committed to Central Florida but is receiving interest from plenty of other Power 4 schools, including Mississippi State, Missouri and Ole Miss.
This season as a sophomore at Hutchinson Community College, Jordan has run for 1,533 yards and 20 touchdowns in eleven, while helping to carry the Blue Dragons to the NJCAA Championship Game which is set to take place this Wednesday in Canyon, TX against Iowa Western. This followed a quiet first year for him at the school where he ran for 202 yards and two touchdowns after landing there as an unranked prospect out of high school in Pensacola, FL.
The Tar Heels' interest in Jordan is part of the staff’s pursuit of help in the backfield where the team is losing a lot from this year’s roster. With Omarion Hampton likely headed to the NFL, the only players that are expected to return in the running back room as of right now are true freshman Davion Gause and sophomore Charleston French. The staff does have Demon June Jr. set to join the team from the high school ranks next season, but they need an experienced option to pair with Gause and provide some depth in the room.
