Mack Brown met with the media on Monday to recap a wild 47-45 victory over the Duke Blue Devils in double overtime on Saturday night. Prior to him taking the stand, though, the team did provide an update on one of the team’s defensive backs.
Redshirt freshman cornerback Tayon Holloway will be monitored throughout the week with an undisclosed injury. Holloway has missed the last two games after starting six of the first eight of the season. In those first eight games, he had his struggles in coverage, allowing 18 of his 26 targets to be caught for 303 yards and a 108.3 quarterback rating.
Holloway’s injury has been coupled with the absence of Lejond Cavazos to make this an extremely thin cornerback group. The team’s three starting corners were the only ones to take snaps at the position on Saturday, with all three playing over 70 snaps in the game. Right now, any injury to the unit could spell disaster, especially if it is one of the two playing on the outside.
