In a surprising turn of events, Ian Jackson the No. 2 overall player in the 2024 class, has committed to North Carolina, after it was believed that he was going to commit to Kentucky. Jackson hails from the Bronx and is not only the No. 2 overall player in the 2024 cycle but is also the No. 2 overall shooting guard, combining him with the No. 1 overall point guard in the class, Elliot Cadeau. This commitment is important for many different reasons, as it continues Carolina’s stranglehold on the top talent coming out of upstate New York, a prime recruiting area that Hubert Davis wants UNC to have a presence in once again.
Jackson becomes the fourth player to commit to UNC in the 2024 class, joining the aforementioned Elliot Cadeau, and four-star prospects, Drake Powell and James Brown. Before Jackson chose UNC, Carolina already had the #1 recruiting class for 2024, this all but assures that UNC will finish the #1 class when it's all said and done.
