Friday is the second consecutive day that the Tar Heels will have two targets from the 2024 class announce their commitments. The second of the day from Tar Heels targets will come from 3✮ DL De’Andre Cook.
Cook was originally scheduled to reveal his decision on Saturday but moved it up a day last weekend after wrapping up his final official visit to Boston College. The Eagles were one of four teams to receive an official visit from him during the month along with the Tar Heels, Penn State and Rutgers.
If this decision took place in April, Cook would be a Tar Heel. He took multiple visits to Chapel Hill during the spring, including an unscheduled visit at one point. However, Penn State made a huge push in the past couple of months following their offer back in early May. The Tar Heels got their opportunity with Cook earlier this month, but it is clear that Penn State did everything they needed to do with their visit to seal the deal with him.
The recruiting experts also strongly favor the Nittany Lions to land his commitment. Nine predictions have been cast in their favor since the beginning of the month, all with very solid confidence levels. The On3 Sports Recruiting Prediction Machine also strongly favors Penn State.
Prediction: Penn State
