Some Tar Heel fans are panicking about the start to this transfer window because of the lack of commitments, especially at the center. While there have been some big names that have gone off the board, the team is in the thick of things for two of the other top transfers at the position.
On Friday, one of those two set his visit to campus for next week. According to Sherrell McMillan of Inside Carolina, Rutgers transfer big man Clifford Omoruyi will take a visit to Chapel Hill next Thursday. If he is to follow through on the visit, he will have visited four schools after trips to Georgetown and Kansas State in the past week and a scheduled trip to Alabama this weekend.
Omoruyi, the No. 3 center and No. 8 overall player in the portal according to 247Sports, has one year of eligibility remaining. He brings plenty of offensive firepower, averaging 10.4 points per game or more in each of the last three seasons while shooting over 50% overall in each of those years as well. His biggest impact, though, comes on the defensive end of the floor, where he has been named an All-Big Ten defensive team member in each of the last three years after averaging 2.1 blocks per game last year and 2.9 blocks per game this year. He wouldn’t pack quite the scoring punch that Bacot did, but he’d give them one of the best defensive centers in the country and would still provide enough on the offensive end to thrive in the middle for the team.
