One of the most important tasks for the Tar Heels’ newest head coach when he arrives on campus is to keep this 2025 recruiting class together. On Tuesday, the team got the news that their top prospect in the class will be delaying the signing of his Letter of Intent.
According to Tar Heel Illustrated’s Andrew Jones, 2025 4✮ QB Bryce Baker is waiting on the Tar Heels to make a decision on his recruitment. Baker, who took an official visit to Penn State over the weekend, is considering the Tar Heels, Nittany Lions and LSU Tigers.
Baker, the No. 82 overall and No. 8 quarterback in the 2025 class according to 247Sports Composite Players Rankings, has been committed to Carolina since June of 2023 and has been firm in his decision until Mack Brown’s firing. So far in his senior at in-state East Forsyth High School, Baker has thrown for 3,096 yards and posted a 36-4 touchdown-interception ratio while completing 77.6% of his passes. He has also run for 343 yards and six touchdowns on 60 rush attempts.
This decision seems to show that Baker wants to stay committed to Carolina. As long as the Tar Heels make an attractive enough hire, it feels like they should be able to hold off Penn State and LSU.
