Later this evening, one of the Tar Heels’ top remaining targets in the 2023 class will reveal his decision as the team looks to continue to add to a class that continues to trend in the right direction.
2023 4✮ CB Braeden Marshall is set to announce his commitment later this evening at 6:40 PM EST on his Instagram Live. The No. 40 corner in the class has the Tar Heels as one of his final three, which he released on Sunday, along with Wisconsin and Nebraska. However, the rumors suggest that a team outside of that top three may actually be the top team for him.
Central Florida might not be in that final three, something that Marshall doubled down on earlier today, but there is a thought that the list may all be a misdirection. Rumors have it that he was on campus in Orlando as recently as earlier this week and the Knights are the team that he has visited most frequently during his recruitment. They also received an official visit back on June 3rd and it felt like, at that time, they were in control. That’s why it was so shocking that he left them out of his final three.
The predictions seem convey a lot of confusion about the direction of this one, but give Central Florida the slight edge. Only two predictions have been cast across the three major sites that submit predictions, with both of them going in favor of the Knights. Andrew Ivins and Evan Flood both casted their predictions for 247Sports in the course of the last two days, but neither of those two predictions has a confidence level of more than a five.
At this point, it feels like Central Florida is going to come away with this commitment, but there is a reason why many experts are staying away from making a prediction on this one. If he was to stick with his top three, the Tar Heels feel like the team that is in the best shape, but it feels like the Knights did just enough this week to land that commitment.
Prediction: Central Florida
