Heel Tough Blog: Bo Walker The Focus in Tar Heels' Search for RB in 2025 Class

The Tar Heels have yet to land a running back in the 2025 recruiting cycle and after Saturday they are down to just one target that they can still bring in off their board.

On Saturday, the running back that the staff hosted earlier this summer, 4✮ Jabree Wallace-Coleman, committed to Penn State in the middle of his official visit to State College. His decision means the Tar Heels are down to just 3✮ Bo Walker in their quest to find a running back in this class.

Walker, who is currently committed to Georgia, took his official visit to Chapel Hill this weekend, setting up an interesting battle to flip his commitment. The good news for the Tar Heels is that they are the one team that has a chance to complete this flip, but this one doesn’t seem to be the sure thing that 3✮ S Julien Horton is at this point.

The Tar Heels' need for a running back in this class isn’t nearly as dire as it was entering the weekend, but it still feels important that they do. Both Darwin Barlow and Caleb Hood are out of eligibility at the end of the season and Omarion Hampton is almost certainly headed for the NFL, as well, meaning the depth in the room will be severely depleted. As of right now, the room is scheduled to contain just redshirt freshman Jordan Louie, true freshman Davion Gause and JUCO transfer Charleston French, who the team added over the weekend. The team will almost certainly have to add someone next year in the portal, but they need Walker to help provide stability for the future of the room.
