Heel Tough Blog: Belichick Eyeing Kentucky Assistant for Role on New Staff

A Sea of Blue

The Tar Heels are currently in the early stages of putting together Bill Belichick’s coaching staff and it appears they have their eyes on one of the most highly regarded recruiters in the country.

FootballScoop’s John Brice and Scott Roussel reported on Saturday afternoon that Belichick has offered Kentucky assistant head coach Vince Marrow a position on his inaugural college staff. The two reportedly have a prior relationship and share representation.

Marrow has been a part of Mark Stoops’ staff in Kentucky since he arrived in Lexington back in 2013 and has become widely regarded as one of the best recruiters in the country since he took over as the team’s recruiting coordinator in 2014. Because of his success, he currently sits as one of the highest-paid assistants in the sport with a $1.3 million yearly salary.

Marrow has helped put together three top 25 recruiting classes, which is a pretty impressive number for Kentucky and has never had a class rank lower than 38th. His best class that he put together came back in 2022 where he helped land four top 200 recruits, including two players in the top 100. This year’s class at Kentucky is currently ranked 29th in the 247Sports Composite Team Rankings and contains seven 4✮ prospects, including the top three players in the state of Kentucky.

Marrow is a guy who programs around the country have been trying to get out of  Lexington for years, but the allure of Bill Belichick might finally be enough to do it.
