The college basketball season doesn’t tip off until November, but believe it or not, we’re closing in on the time of year when publications start handing out their preseason awards. A case in point is Chris Dortch’s Blue Ribbon College Basketball Yearbook, as they released their preseason All-Americans for the upcoming season, and senior big man, Armando Bacot was named to the first team. This isn’t surprising as Bacot tied the Division I record for most double-doubles in a single season, and became the first player in NCAA Tournament history to record double-doubles in all six games, as he led the Tar Heels all the way to the national championship game. Other players selected for this prestigious honor include Drew Timme from Gonzaga, Trayce Jackson-Davis from Indiana, Oscar Tshiebwe from Kentucky, and Marcus Sasser from Houston.
This is the first of many preseason accolades that Bacot will collect leading up to the season, as he’s the face of a team that will likely be the odds-on favorite to get back to the Final Four, and cut down the nets.
