The Tar Heels have been reaping the rewards of last weekend's massive group of unofficial visits that has resulted in two commitments and a host of others scheduling official visits. They continued to do that on Monday afternoon when they landed in the top schools list for one of those visitors.

Per a post from On3 Sports reporter Hayes Fawcett, the Tar Heels are one of the final four schools remaining 2026 4✮ S Jamarrion Gordon. The Tar Heels are joined by Florida, Florida State and Ole Miss as those left fighting for his services. So far, Gordon has scheduled official visits with the Tar Heels (May 30th), the Gators (June 6th) and Rebels (June 13th), but has yet to announce anything official with the Seminoles.

Gordon, the No. 345 overall prospect and No. 29 safety prospect in the 2026 class according to 247Sports Composite Player Rankings, hails from Jackson High School in Jackson, AL. This past season, as a junior, he finished with 39 total tackles, 4.0 tackles for loss, 1.0 sack, three interceptions, four passes defensed, two forced fumbles and a fumble recovery in 15 games on his way to being named 4A Defensive Player of the Year by Around the State Sports. He also caught 19 passes for 358 yards and six touchdowns on offense. The year prior, as a sophomore, he racked up 30 total tackles, 2.0 tackles for loss, 1.0 sack, an interception, seven passes defensed and a fumble recovery in 12 games while being named the 4A Defensive Player of the Year again by Around the State Sports. Gordon first came onto the scene as a freshman when he collected 42 total tackles, 1.0 tackle for loss, an interception and three passes defensed in ten games.

The Tar Heels appear to be a very serious contender here as they are with every target from Jackson High School. Right now, it appears that they, along with Florida State, are the teams to watch here, but with officials scheduled to Florida and Ole Miss already, this feels like it could be anyone's race to be had at this point.
