The Tar Heels are reaping the benefits of the huge official visit weekend that they just hosted and one of those involves setting an official visit date with one of their top running back targets.

2026 4✮ RB Damon “Nuddle” Ferguson announced via social media that he will be officially visiting Chapel Hill June 16-17 following his unofficial visit to campus over the weekend. The Tar Heels join Indiana (April 25th), Duke (May 30th), Pittsburgh (June 5th) and (June 12th) as the teams that will host him for an official visit as of now.

Ferguson, the No. 364 overall prospect and No. 27 running back in the 2026 class according to 247Sports, hails from Milford Mill Academy in Baltimore, MD. This past season, as a junior, he ran for career high 1341 yards and 16 touchdowns on just 105 carries (12.8 yards per carry) over nine games. He would earn first team all-state, All-Metro and all-county for his efforts. As a sophomore in 2023, he ran for 725 yards and eight touchdowns on 73 carries on his way to all-county honors.

When it comes to where the Tar Heels stand in his recruitment, it feels like exiting the weekend they are the favorites in this race. He raved about the idea of playing for this Tar Heel coaching staff to On3 Sports recruiting insider Steve Wiltfong on Thursday because of the experience that it brings to the table. Following those comments, the Tar Heels have surged to take the lead in the race for him for On3 Sports, as well, as the Tar Heels are given a 43.4% chance to land his services.
